About Us

My name is Jana Kerley and I am married to my wonderful husband Derek.  We have two kids and they were the inspiration for starting this business.  Jaxon is 18 and Harper just turned 12.  I started shopping consignment sales when Jaxon was 1.  I immediately fell in love with them and I found myself shopping and volunteering at a couple of sales each season.  I enjoyed shopping at the sales for Jaxon, but in 2010 we found out we were having a little girl and this mama went crazy.  I started finding out about brands I had never heard of like Matilda Jane and Persnickety.  But the retail price for these brands was crazy expensive.  I started shopping and working at more and more sales trying to find these brands and other boutique brands.  It was very time consuming between shopping and volunteering and I was spending way too much time on it.  And that is when I had the idea to limit the brands to boutique and trunk show brands and start a sale of our own.  So in 2012, we started The Boutique Closet.  Our first sale took place in the Madison Square Mall and we had about 30 consignors.  Today we have grown the sale to over 300 consignors.  Both Derek and I put all of our energy into this endeavor.  I realize that not many husbands would be willing to spend their vacation days and weekends working at a consignment sale, so I am very blessed.  We both had full time jobs on Redstone Arsenal when we started the sale in 2012.  Of course, my plan was to one day quit my full time job and be able to focus more on the sale as well as the mission work that I do.  Well in July 2019, that dream came true.  I realize that we are so blessed and this could not have happened without God.  He has blessed us tremendously with this business and we want to give Him all the glory!  We also want to give a shout out to all of our consignors and volunteers.  We could not do this sale without all of you and we look forward to building many more friendships through this sale!
